Maintenance Management Systems (MMS) are tools to manage routine highway maintenance and immediate operational needs of all roadway assets (e.g., signs, pavement markings, road surfaces) from fenceline to fenceline. MMS help roadway maintenance officials assess current needs and determine what work should be performed where.
Applied Pavement Technology assists agencies in developing quality assurance standards for MMS by:
• Setting performance indicators for use in Maintenance Quality Assurance assessments.
• Establishing levels of service, which translate performance data into a grading scale to better communicate with decision makers.
• Establishing links between pavement management and maintenance management systems.
Additionally, Applied Pavement Technology can help agencies effectively utilize their enhanced maintenance management systems through training courses. We can develop these courses specifically for your transportation agency, or you can enroll in the course we developed and teach through the National Highway Institute, “Principles and Practices for Enhanced Maintenance Management Systems.”
