Pavement Evaluation and Design Services

Evaluation
APTech's comprehensive pavement evaluations provide insight into how the pavement is performing, what is causing it to deteriorate, and what additional information is needed to determine the most appropriate repair or rehabilitation option.

APTech is experienced in all methods of pavement condition assessment, including visual inspections using the Pavement Condition Index. The company also owns and operates a Dynatest 8081 heavy falling weight deflectometer (FWD), a nondestructive device used for routine and specialized testing of both highway and airfield pavements.

In addition to the FWD, APTech also owns and operates a trailer-mounted material sampling device that can be used to obtain core and/or auger samples of the pavement and subsurface layers. The coring apparatus is applicable for both HMA and PCC surfaced pavements.

APTech can also perform other methods of testing including boring, materials testing, drop-cone petrometer testing, roughness measurements, ground penetrating radar testing, skid measurements, and other techniques to evaluate pavement condition.

Design
Whether designing a new pavement or rehabilitating an existing one, APTech improves long-term pavement performance by developing recommendations and strategies that include a full range of hot-mix asphalt and Portland cement concrete materials. In addition to using conventional FAA design and analysis procedures to perform these designs, APTech's engineers use other design methodologies and analytical tools to ensure that all design inputs and constraints are thoroughly evaluated.
