Pavement Management for Roadways

A well-implemented pavement management system helps an agency maintain pavement in good condition at a reasonable cost subject to the many constraints it faces. The issuance of Government Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 34 (GASB 34)--requiring state and local governments to track the performance of their infrastructure assets--increases the importance of protecting taxpayer dollars. Pavement management systems help agencies track the condition and value of their pavement infrastructure.

Local and state highway departments nationwide have depended on APTech to implement pavement management systems, improve existing capabilities, and provide technical expertise to overcome obstacles to successful pavement management and preventive maintenance efforts.

The unbiased nature of APTech's pavement management experience has led to its involvement in several pilot pavement management implementations, as well as projects to enhance the existing pavement management capabilities of various state highway agencies. APTech has worked with the Illinois, New Jersey, Michigan, South Dakota, Utah, Oregon, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Delaware Departments of Transportation in this capacity.

APTech's knowledge of pavement management practices has also resulted in its involvement in a number of national training initiatives, including National Highway Institute (NHI) course 13135, Pavement Management Systems.
